WhatsApp Web
Someone had asked me this question before few days, where does WhatsApp and WhatsApp Web save data? Before answering that question I want to share some information with you which is very important.
WhatsApp Web is web interface of normal WhatsApp that we use in our private mobile. With the help of this service, now you can access WhatsApp with your web browser. You have the option to chat, send the voice message, attach the photo and send stickers to everyone from your WhatsApp account without any plugin required. WhatsApp Web version is a new way of communication.
The WhatsApp for Web is a responsive website that you can open on every WhatsApp supported device. It has a clean and minimal design layout. You can check this web version of WhatsApp and you have quick access from the icons on top of this application. And this feature allows you to connect multiple devices as itself to access from them and it has some advantages too.
First of all how to use it?
Go to your desktop or laptop browser or any device where you want to use your WhatsApp account.
Then go WhatsApp Web and where its page with QR code will appear.
Now from your smartphone run WhatsApp and go to the menu you will find WhatsApp Web. Select that option and it will ask for scanning QR code then scan the QR code that is appearing in the computer browser. Now you got connected to WhatsApp Web.
Pros for WhatsApp Web feature/ service
1. You can use the keyboard if you not convenient with touch-pad.
2. Larger screen really makes difference for the viewing experience, especially media like Full HD/ UHD videos and images that won't make so much difference on mobile screen.
3. You can download the media to your computer or send large files directly to anyone and no need to share in mobile. When it sends data to anyone from the computer, mobile also saves this file.
4. You can log in through multiple devices.
5. End to end encryption is provided as the secure channel.
Cons of WhatsApp Web feature/ service
1. Using this service some functions are missing as emoji are not available on the computer keyboard.
2. Actually, this is not so good, many upgrades in both user interface and system are required.
3. It compulsory needs the internet connection and it may lead data to drain as both devices use data for being connected (but it is security feature too).
More pros and cons may found if I continue to use it but really I don’t like this feature, will I be the fond of the future version.
Now the answer to your question, where does WhatsApp Web store images? The WhatsApp Web feature/service saves data (files) to your smartphone itself and not on the computer. If you download the files to your computer manually then only it is saved to the computer.
For WhatsApp Web, til the internet is on. files remain in the browser cache (as temporary files) and after the closing browser or the internet, they are removed. There are chances that some browsers may save cache in RAM and ROM too, be aware of that.
WhatsApp doesn't save data on its own server, for the privacy of people and to maintain the speed of server as it's an instant messaging app and people from all over the world are accessing it and should not lag in performance.
This feature saves all media and images to the mobile memory only as default if you not saving elsewhere manually.
I hope this will help you to get your answer thoroughly.
